Let us come before the Lord and pray for the grace to resist envy and jealousy.

Lord, have mercy on us for the times we have looked upon the blessings of others with envy and resentment.

Lord, have mercy on us for the times we have been consumed with the desire for what others have, and failed to appreciate the gifts you have given us.

Lord, have mercy on us for the times we have measured our own worth by the success and possessions of others, and failed to see our own unique value in your eyes.

Lord, have mercy on us for the times we have spoken ill of others, and spread rumors and gossip out of envy and jealousy.

Lord, have mercy on us for the times we have treated others poorly or unfairly out of envy, and caused pain and brokenness in our relationships.

Lord, have mercy on us for the times we have failed to trust in your providence and care for us, and sought to control our own destiny out of fear and envy.

May we seek to imitate the contentment and gratitude of Christ, who taught us to be rich in spirit rather than in material possessions, and who showed us that true wealth lies in our relationship with you.

Amen.
